Know Why Islam Is Anti Christian
Caution: The purpose of this article is to evaluate information from the Bible
and the Quran and provide proof that Islam was started with the sole aim of
preventing people from following Jesus and accepting him as their Lord, Saviour and God. It should in no way be used as an excuse or pretext to hate the
followers of Islam or Muslims. A Christian is called to love all humans
irrespective of their religious beliefs.
It should be noted that whenever convincing
scriptural evidence is provided on the divinity of Jesus some Muslims will
always resort to the standpoint that certain scriptures in the present day Bible
version are manipulated. If one holds a similar view about the validity of the
texts of the Quran then all arguments are fruitless. People who take such a standpoint already
know the truth about Jesus but don’t want others to believe.
It is also
noteworthy that the Quran teaches (10:94): If you have any doubts about what is
written here then refer to the earlier scriptures. It is accepted by most
followers of Islam that the earlier scriptures are the Tawrat (Torah), Zabur
(Psalms) and Injil (Gospel). However some Muslims do not accept these
texts on the pretext that they are not original and manipulated versions. The
Bible is written by many people (at least 40). The Quran is written by only one
person.
Origin of Islam
Around 550
years after Jesus there lived a man named Muhammad (570-632) in his birth place
called Mecca in Saudi Arabia. He was a trader or merchant. At the age of 25
years he married a very rich widow of another merchant who was 40 years of age.
This marriage lasted for 25 years (till the death of the woman).
It is said
that he used to often pray in a cave (Hira) on mount Jabal al-Nour. In the year
610 when Muhammad was 40 years old he claimed to receive revelations through
the angel Gabriel during prayer in the cave. He recorded his revelations in a
book called Quran and called the God of his revelations Allah (God in Arabic)
and his religion Islam (meaning submission to God). He claimed he was the last
prophet of Allah and started proclaiming his revelations. Islam is based on the
belief of one God Allah and his messenger Muhammad. People began to follow his
teachings and the number gradually grew. These revelations continued till his
death. However most of his teachings appear to be just a re-writing and
manipulation of the Jewish religious writings found in the Old Testament and
the Gospel accounts in the New Testament of the bible.
In Mecca
there was a popular temple called the Kaaba which was adorned with statues and
frescoes of multiple deities (around 360) including those of Jesus and Mary. The
residents around this placed benefited financially due to the many visitors. A
religion with the belief of one God was a threat to their prosperity. A plan
was hatched to kill Muhammad. On receiving information he fled with all his
followers to a place called Medina (old name Yathrib). As his following grew he
became the leader of many tribes. He was a good warrior and an intelligent
statesman. He was able to form a coalition of a number of tribes. Others were
forced to join out of fear. He led the tribes in many battles and killed many
people. The captives were forced to convert to Islam. Those who refused were
killed.
During this
period he married 12 more women. Sources say most of the women were widows of men
who were killed in battle. Sources also say that he married Aisha when she was
only 7 years old and consummated the marriage when she was just 9 years old.
Other sources claim she was 13 years old. Present day followers deny it. The
justification provided for multiple wives is (1) need for more number of
authentic witnesses and (2) it is a charitable act to take care of widows.
Later he
raised a force of 10,000 men and defeated the Meccans and destroyed all the
statues in and around the Kaaba. It is said that he did not touch the frescoes
of Jesus and Mary.
Muhammad
died at the age of 62 at Medina after a prolonged illness. Some sources say he
died of poisoning. After killing a Jew he married his widow. This woman
believed that if he was a real prophet he would not die of poison. After
knowing that he was poisoned he killed this woman. He died a slow and painful
death due to the poison. He had to be carried by others during his last days.
The present day followers however deny this story but not the illness.
What does Quran teach about Mary?
Only one
woman’s name is mentioned in the entire Quran. There are two chapters about
Mary. One is titled the family of Imran (Ch. 3) and the other just Mary (Ch.
19). Quran says Mary was born without sin and did not commit any sin. She is
ever virgin and conceived Jesus without a man (3:47). She did not die but was
taken to heaven body and soul (50:23).
What does the Quran teach about Jesus and
Muhammad?
The Quran
teaches the following: Jesus is just one of the many prophets chosen by God in
human history. Muhammad is the last prophet in this line and thus equal to
Jesus. Jesus began to speak just two days after he was born. When Jesus was a
child he made a bird out of mud. He breathed into it and it became alive. Jesus
gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf and raised people who were dead
back to life (5:110). Jesus is called the Word of God, Spirit of God and the
Messiah or the Christ (3:45-55). The Quran mentions the name of Muhammad just 4
times but the name of Jesus is mentioned 25 times.
However it
teaches that Jesus did not die on the cross. God loved Jesus so much that he
did not allow him to die but took him away. The death that appeared on the
cross to people was a kind of an apparition or vision. Jesus did not die and
will come back again (4:157-158).
What does the above imply?
If Jesus did
not die on the cross then there is no question of the resurrection and
therefore the Christians are the greatest fools on earth. Christianity is a
religion founded on the resurrection of Jesus. If there was no resurrection of
Jesus then Christianity is a false religion.
What are the other manipulations of the
Quran?
Jesus said
in John 16:7 – “Nevertheless I tell you
the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the
Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.”
In the above
scripture Jesus is foretelling about the coming of the Holy Spirit which did
happen on the day of Pentecost. However the followers of Islam are deceived
into believing that Jesus was foretelling the coming of Muhammad. Other
scriptures about the Holy Spirit are twisted in a similar manner. The Muslims
do not believe in the existence of the Holy Spirit as a person.
What does the Bible say about false prophets?
Jesus says
in Matthew 7:16 - “You will know them by
their fruits.” The actions of a person cannot be hidden and is the best way
to asses him. God overlooked certain human weaknesses till the coming of Jesus
(Acts 17:30). But after the resurrection of Jesus nothing that is contrary to his
teachings is tolerated (Acts 17:31). The prophets before Jesus got away with murder,
polygamy etc. but post the resurrection of Jesus religious leaders who practice
such things are placed in the category of false prophets.
What does the Bible say about Satan?
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 11:14 – “And no wonder! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
Jesus is the light. Therefore the angels of light are the angels of Jesus.
Satan has the power to appear to humans in the appearance of any of the angels.
He can therefore come in the appearance of angel Gabriel. How does one discern
then? Satan comes to deceive with lies about the Word of God. To make people
deny the resurrection of Jesus and his divinity is the ultimate ambition of
Satan.
What does the Bible say about salvation?
For
thousands of years God spoke to the human race through numerous prophets. Many
of them foretold about the coming of the Messiah (Christ). Details about his
birth, life, death and resurrection were revealed hundreds of years in advance.
Finally God spoke to the human race through his only Son Jesus. All the prophecies
were fulfilled in the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus proving
beyond doubt that the Son of God himself was the promised Messiah. The teaching
of Jesus is final and prevails over all other teachings.
The Bible
says in John 3:18 – “Those who believe in
him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already,
because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God.”
The Bible
says in Acts 4:12 – “There is salvation
in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by
which we must be saved.”
The Bible
says in Acts 2:38 – “Repent and be
baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be
forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
The Bible
says in 1 John 2:23 – “No one who denies
the Son has the Father; everyone who confesses the Son has the Father also.
“ Jesus is God and man in one person. To deny the divinity or humanity of Jesus
is to deny him and the surest way of losing salvation.
Conclusion:
If
Muhammad’s only passion was to worship the God who created heaven and earth then
he could have easily embraced Judaism. But was there another passion? The ruler
of the world offered Jesus wealth, position, power and fame in the third
temptation in exchange for worship (Matthew 4:8-10). Jesus rejected it. It is
obvious Muhammad could not. The fruits testify.
Who then is
Muhammad’s real God? Is it not Satan himself? Any person who wants to become
Muslim has to profess the following: ‘I believe in only one God Allah and his
messenger Muhammad’. What a dangerous statement to profess. For a normal person
the word Allah means God who created heaven and earth. But when the word Allah
is used in association with Muhammad it means the God of Muhammad. That is
Satan!
Paul
persecuted Christians out of his passion for the God who created heaven and
earth. Jesus revealed himself to him and used him for his glory. The kind of
passion in a person counts.
On one hand
we have the only perfect person who lived on the earth. On the other hand one who
killed others and practiced polygamy. On one hand we have a person who
performed healings, miracles, raised dead people and who is still alive and
will come again. On the other hand one who did not perform even one act of
power and who is dead and gone. The legacy of one person has continually
inspired generations to live life in a peaceful manner. The legacy of the other
is fear and terrorism.
Other arguments by Muslims
Argument #1:
Nowhere in the Bible it is
found that Jesus himself said he is God.
Proof #1: John 20:28-29 Thomas said to
Jesus: “My Lord and my God.” Any
devout Jew would immediately rebuke or correct such a statement because
addressing a human as God is blasphemy. On the contrary Jesus said to him: “Have you believed because you have seen me?
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
Proof #2: Muslims believe that God has
99 names. Uttering any of these names amounts to invoking the name of God.
Among these names are Truth, Resurrector and First. Jesus says in John 14:6 –“I am the way and the truth and the life. No
one comes to the Father except through me”. Jesus says in John 11:25 – “I am the resurrection and the life”.
Jesus says in Revelation 22:13 – “I am
the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end”.
Proof #3: The Quran teaches that Jesus
is ‘Word of God’ (3:45-55). It also teaches that God created everything by his
Word. The Bible says in John 1:1 – “In
the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God”.
If Jesus is the Word of God then he was present at the time of creation for God
created everything by his Word. Muslims avoid answering the question whether
Word of God is Creator or creation. If they say Creator then Jesus becomes God.
If they say creation then they have to answer who created the Word. They don’t
have an answer.
Argument #2:
The phrase ‘Son of God’ is
used a number of times in the Bible and Jesus is not an exception. For example
in Luke 3:28 Adam is called son of God. Romans 8:14 says: All who are led by
the Spirit of God are sons of God. The capital letter is a translation error.
Proof #1: The Quran teaches Mary
conceived Jesus without a man and that God could do the impossible (3:47). If
Mary was conceived by God does it not make Jesus the Son of God?
Proof #2: The Bible says in John 3:16 -
“For God so loved the world that he gave
his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have
eternal life.” The English dictionary gives the following meanings for the
word ‘only’ – and no one or alone of its kind. The capital letter used for the
word ‘Son’ is also another indication that Jesus is an exception. However those
who are not interested in the truth will say that the capital letter is a
translation error.
Argument #3:
If God has a son then
where is the wife?
Proof #1: The Quran teaches God can see
without eyes, speak without mouth and hear without ears. If this is so can he not
have a child without a wife? Is there anything impossible for God?
Argument #4:
Muslims are more Christian
than Christians because we are circumcised like Jesus.
Proof #1: The Moses law was given to
keep sin under control till the coming of Jesus (Galatians 3:19). Nobody was
able to fulfill all the requirements of the law and therefore it had become a
curse (Galatians 3:10). Although Jesus was without any sin he had to live under
the law and fulfill all its requirements. In doing so he won salvation for all
those who believe in him (Galatians 3:13).
What does the Bible say about the Holy Spirit?
Jesus says
in John 14:16-17 – “And I will ask the
Father and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever. This is
the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees him
nor knows him. You know him because he abides with you and he will be in you.”
Jesus says
in John 14:26 – “But the Advocate the
Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and
remind you of all that I have said to you.”
The Bible is
the Word of God written in human language. The prophets wrote what they were
inspired by the Holy Spirit to write. What is written by the inspiration of the
Holy Spirit cannot be fully understood without the help of the Holy Spirit.
Satan is also working full time to make men misinterpret the written word of
God.
Jesus says
in Matthew 12:31-32 – “Therefore I tell
you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy but blasphemy against
the Spirit will not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man
will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be
forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.”
Only the Holy Spirit can enlighten humans on the
truth about God and his plans. Denying the existence of the Holy Spirit or rejecting
his truth about God is a sin that has no forgiveness.
What
is special about the Name of Jesus?
The Bible says in Philippians 2:9-11 – “Therefore God also highly exalted him and
gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every
knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue
should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.”
This is how Jesus offered himself as a sacrifice and won salvation for you.
