The kingdom of God is not a place but an experience. To get this experience one has to receive the Holy Spirit. To receive the Holy Spirit one has to believe in Jesus Christ. Therefore when one believes in Jesus Christ all sins are forgiven and the gift of the Holy Spirit is given as a Helper. The Holy Spirit convinces us that all is well because God is on our side. This keeps our mind in a state of calmness which is called peace. This assurance also feels us with the highest form of happiness called joy. The Holy Spirit also animates us to do only those things that are right or which are pleasing to God. Righteousness, peace and joy are not dependent on material things like food and drink but are supernatural (beyond the natural).

In the Bible the meaning of the word 'to know' is not just a knowledge of a few things but is to have a intimate relationship with a person. It is mentioned in Genesis 4:1 'Now the man knew his wife Eve and she conceived....' Therefore to attain eternal life one needs to have a personal relationship with not only God the Father but also his son Jesus Christ. In John chapter 14:7-9 when the apostle Philip said 'Lord show us the Father and we will be satisfied' Jesus replied 'Whoever has seen me has seen the Father'. Here the word 'seen' has to be interpreted as 'to know'. God the Father and Jesus Christ have the same nature. Knowing one is as good as knowing the other. However John 17:3 gives the deeper meaning of the word 'to know' that is required to attain eternal life.
